Denver's Dangerous Theatre is always looking for new and interesting works to produce.  PLEASE do not send entire scripts at first contact but follow the following guidelines. Thanks.

At this time I am looking for Full length productions for the 2008-2009 season.  I would love to find a vampire play to do this fall and some kind of humorous Holiday production for December if any of you have any of those sitting on your hard drives. Please make sure they meet the following requirements;

1) Since I tend to run more than one production at the same time, and share the space with another business, all plays must run under 90 minutes, without an intermission.

2) I need the set design to be simple, for a few reasons. Again, since I run multiple productions at once, I need to be able to strike or alter the set quickly between shows. Also, my love for theatre is primarily do to years working for the Orlando Fringe Festival, so I like plays where the emphasis is on the story and the actors, not on the set design. This also gives me the opportunity to maybe do the production at another theatre if the chance arises, as I have found with the play A Time to Go Walking.  I produced it at my theatre last fall and have done it in another theatre in January and have another production of it taking place in April at another venue.

3) Maximum characters or actors, no more than 5 please.  I have a small stage (16' X 12') and too many actors in a play are hard to wrangle on a stage that size.  Plus, I have found the more actors in a production, the more drama there is OFF STAGE!

4) I am not a fan of sports or political drama - so plays with those subjects are less likely to be considered. (Unless you consider sex a sport, then send it right along!)

5) I prefer to produce new works or works not done in Colorado. I enjoy the challenge of new works and am working to build a brand identity at my theatre as such.

6) Compensation to playwrights for plays produced is 7% of house. As a new theatre which is still working to build an audience, which is more difficult to do with new works, I cannot offer any other form of payment than that.  If this is not acceptable, or if the play is published and has other financial requirements, please do not submit them.

8) At the moment I am asking that you send submissions in the form of a one page synopsis including cast and set info, play description, and production history and the first 10 pages ONLY.  Please include the first ten pages in the body of the email.

7) Please send only one play submission per email and put the title of the play in the subject line so it is easy for me to recognize later, when I have numerous things sitting in my inbox. Please send to winnie@dangeroustheatre.com

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at winnie@dangeroustheatre.com

If you wish to be added to my email list for Calls for Submissions just let me know.
